Oil on wood
14 cm x 6 cm

I make these miniatures as a response to the lack of consideration animals are given by some individuals and many corporations. They speak of the sadness and pain meeted out by pharmacetucal and agribusiness space agencies, and universities the world over.

Primates have been sent into space to die and certainly to suffer, often to prove very little and only to bolster a nations status as being ‘advanced’. A small iconographic object for the voiceless in society, the ‘others’ who suffer often because we are too scared to speak out on their behalf.

This diptych is all made from recycled or found materials, wood from Penzance harbour and the hinges are found copper and wire, whilst the disc is an eroded coin from the beach at Eastern Green. The only new material used to make it was oil paint.
